2 Month Shots, Bathtime!

Sadie had her 2 month vaccinations yesterday. The shots made her sad, which made me very sad. She cried her little heart out and promptly fell asleep, then went to bed early that evening. Today she was a little more cheerful.

Silly mommy tried to use up the last few Newborn size diapers before she got way too big, but I guess that ship has sailed, because this mess could not be contained. Impromptu midday bath party!

Sadie just loves the tub her Grandpa gave her! (At least for the first 30 seconds before she gets cold)
I keep trying to get a good picture of her in one of her adorable animal hooded towels, but she is always very sad by the end of her bath.

Sadie's First Soap Star

I was at home with Sadie yesterday when our friend Melinda called and said she was going to bring me a surprise. I thought she meant some kind of sweet treat, and turns out I was right -- she brought our college friend Peter! Peter was in town very briefly from LA, where is he is kind of a big deal (he has killed three people on Young & the Restless).

What a great surprise! Melinda thought we should leak these photos to confuse Peter's fans. But for now we'll just let you folks enjoy.

Sadie's first pants!

Sadie is already starting to grow out of a few things, including the Newborn size diapers, so I need to make sure she wears all her little clothing now. This morning there was an autumnal nip in the air, so I thought it a good time to introduce Sadie to the vast and exciting world of pants.

I think she likes them! That is all.

Sadie meets Jaime!

Sadie took a trip down to the Gate this past weekend where she met Victoria's high school chum, Jaime.
I even snuck a reverse shot just to give you a sense of what Sadie thinks we all look like.
Gosh, our girl looks happy.

The many faces of Sadie

Hi there, Mom here! I just downloaded the Blogger app on my phone, so let's see how it goes. These days I'm using my phone much more than my laptop for internet stuff, since I can use it one-handed while I hold the munchkin.
Sadie's new trick is that she smiles. We had hints of smiles before while she drifted to sleep, but now they seem to be motivated by actual happiness. It's the best thing in the world.

The next set of photos is of Sadie on her play mat looking up at herself in mirror. We've been telling her how pretty she is, but now she has discovered for herself!

I guess this begins the phase where we are constantly doing silly things to see if we can get a smile out of her. It's worth it.

(P.S. Turns out you can't choose the order of photos on the app, so I am editing it on the computer. Lame.)

Our Preternaturally Expressive Daughter

I don't know what preternaturally means, but it sounds cool.
V took these photos herself (bet you would never have guessed that).
AAAAIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! This just makes me too happy!!!  I adore my girls.

This is my absolute favorite.  Reminds me of a Klimt.

And of course, a new video for our audience at home.

Sadie's Screen Test

So, just for kicks, I thought I would try out the video features of this blog.  Nothing really extraordinary requiring memorializing on video took place so I just thought I would share one of our favorite activities: watching Sadie watch her mobile.

What else is going on? Well, V proposed a family walk and picnic in the park today.  So that is what we did, V, Sadie, Jasper and I.  We walked all over the neighborhood, picked up sandwiches and drinks and then found a shady bit of grass under a tree in Prospect Park and had ourselves a picnic.  Sadie slept thru most of the walk and then woke up in the park while we were eating so she got to have her first meal al fresco.

Here are a couple pictures of Sadie taken at the park.  Sorry the park isn't in them.

1 Month Commemorated Properly & First Subway Ride!

After my feeble attempt to capture the moment yesterday morning, V set up a whole pretty photo shoot to properly commemorate Sadie's 1 month day.  We all agree that these came out much better (all of us except Jasper).
(Click any pic to enlarge.  Do I need to keep saying that?)

AND... to celebrate her special day, Sadie took her first subway ride yesterday.  Very exciting!!  V captured the moment as best she could with her hands full (and I think it turned out quite artfully).

One Month Old TODAY!!!

Our splendid Sadie is one month old today.
In honor of the occasion, we sat for a family portrait.  A few of the snaps are below.
(Click on any pic to enlarge - the first lot of pix with Jasper were shot at low res so they don't blow up nicely, but they make us very very happy.)

Assorted pix from the last couple days

Here are a few photos from V's phone that were shot in the past few days.  I think there are some winners here. (click any pic to enlarge)

OOOOOOHHH!!! And Sadie took a bottle for the first time last evening!! (picture below) I got to feed her myself while V went out for a walk with Jasper.  It was pretty wonderful finally being able to do something besides just hold my daughter.  She ate the entire bottlefull - 4oz!!  When she finished, I changed her nappy and put her in the Bjorn and we went out to find V and Jasper. Suddenly, this all seemed very sustainable.

Sadie settling in.

Sadie was four weeks old on Saturday morning and to celebrate she made her fourth trip to the Park Slope Food Coop.  Victoria brought her by as I was finishing up my shift so she got to meet some of my Coop friends, which was very nice.
Then, on Sunday morning, Victoria went to a 9am yoga class (her first class since Sadie arrived), leaving me with Sadie.  I took the opportunity to try out the Baby Bjorn (handed down to us by one of my Coop friends) and went for a long walk around the neighborhood, even hitting a couple stoop sales.  It was great!  I like the way the Bjorn fits and Sadie, once she got used to it, enjoyed the view for a while and then took it for a long test nap.
All in all, Sadie seems to be settling in to our family quite nicely.
Here are some pix of our delightful ward from this weekend.
