I tried it myself a little later and it felt much higher from up on that platform. Neither Sadie nor I went for a second time.

A 3 Borough Adventure!
I bumped into Momo at the park this morning and she invited us all to join her and Toshiro after nap time for a trip to Battery Park to try out the new "Sea Glass Carousel". Obviously I said yes.
Victoria was feeling pretty tired and hadn't had much alone time lately (which includes time with Sawyer only) so she stayed home.
I put Sadie on the back of my big bicycle and we rode across Brooklyn, across the Brooklyn Bridge, and through downtown Manhattan to Battery Park. Sadie especially liked the bridge crossing and expressed relief that we didn't fall into the water. She also encouraged me to say "excuse me" to people who regularly stepped out into our way on the bridge rather than the more colorful things I was mumbling.
Anyway...
The carousel is really lovely. It is in a new glass walled building with a snail shaped roof at the South end of Battery Park right by the water near the Ferry Terminal.
Sadie was a little scared to ride alone, but since she wasn't "at least this tall", she had to ride on my lap anyway. It was a pretty amazing ride. Between the lights and colors and motion and slightly eerie under watery music, it was really unlike anything I've been on. Sadie was mesmerized.
Afterwards Momo and I began discussing finding a patch of grass for Sadie and Toshiro to play on somewhere along the promenade when I noticed a Staten Island ferry headed towards the nearby dock. We agreed that would be a good follow up ride so we headed briskly to the ferry and made it in time to catch that very ferry I had just seen arriving.
The ferry ride was lovely. We sat on the upper deck on the Statue of Liberty side and Sadie enjoyed the view. She spied another passenger eating a hotdog though and was distracted until I promised her one for the ride back from Staten Island.
At the Staten Island terminal the stop to pick up hot dogs took so long that we were too late to reboard the same ferry back to Manhattan. So we ate our dogs in the ferry terminal. Then Momo was distracted by people near us eating ice cream so we followed their directions to the Dairy Queen right outside the ferry departure "lounge".
For the ride back we sat on the Verazzano Bridge side of the boat and Sadie talked and jumped around nonstop - totally jacked on sugar. She held it together and was charming though and not a danger to herself or others.
The ride home was less eventful. .the sun was setting and Sadie feel asleep on the bridge.
At home, V met me our front and gently removed Sadie from her seat and carried her up to bed. It almost worked.
It was a great day!

You gotta have Park!
These photos are from Grandma Vicki's visit a few weeks ago, but it's never too late to post great pix of my favorite people.
These were taken on the walk back from SplashPad.

First Day of School
Tomorrow they stay through lunch, and next week they start full time.
Sadie did great; she played with play-dough and used the doctor kit to check her teacher's heart.
She is such a big girl!
