Memorial Day 2014

Sadie is getting more adventurous at the playground.  She is trying to climb ladders and jungle gyms and more.  These photos don't convey her curiosity, but take our word for it.
Oh! And she wanted to take a photo of mommy yesterday at the play ground so see if you can guess which one she took.

Kite Day!

We have been enjoying a fairly mellow Memorial Day weekend.  Today we all went for a walk to and around Prospect Park where Sadie saw her very first kites.  She was very excited and went right up to a woman flying one and introduced herself.

At one point, the kite came down and I handed it to Sadie and she held it up and then let go and it took off.  I wish I had a photo of the look on her face when the kite rose up out of her hands - she was thrilled and amazed - it was beautiful.

Twinka twinka

This is Sadie's favorite and only song. When she sings other songs, it is to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle. She sings this to herself in her crib in the morning. Her pitch is pretty good I think.

Sadie and Friends

This morning I dropped off Sadie with the nanny share we crash sometimes. They were playing at the playground (right next to where Sesame Street was filming, apparently). 

Before I left, I snapped the one of Sadie and Annabelle (our neighbor) holding hands. Then the babysitters sent me the ones of her hugging the other kids. Sadie has buddies!

A Really Nice Mother's Day

We started off the day with Papa trying to teach Sadie to say "Happy Mommy Day" while Mommy was off in the Shower.  When Mommy came back, Sadie managed a loud "Happy Mommy" and that was good enough for Mommy.  

Then, Sadie and I took Mommy for a drive up the Hudson to Hastings on Hudson where we visited a quaint little flea/antique market then we took a walk down to the river.  

The weather was absolutely perfect all day.

When we got home to Brooklyn, our upstairs neighbors were out with their kids, Louis and Ruben.  And pretty much every other kid on the block was out playing on our side of the street.  All the kids ran around and played.  It was sort of incredible to see Sadie running around among lots of kids.  She wasn't quite playing with them yet, but she was definitely playing with their toys.

Rainy Day

It was drizzly and dreary here yesterday, but we needed some fresh air, so we suited up and went looking for some good puddles. Sadie was game and enjoyed stomping in her "fog shoes". When we got chilly we went out for hot chocolate. I'm glad we pushed ourselves and went out despite the weather.

Spring!

We keep saying it, but it seems like spring is really here this time. Sadie and I went to the botanic gardens with our friend Leah last week. Leah showed Sadie how to smell flowers with her hands safely behind her back.

This weekend all three of us went out for lunch and took a nice walk around the neighborhood. Sadie loves to get out of the stroller and run around. It's nerve-wracking, but fun to see.

Nice Day for a Nature Walk

We went up to Woodstock today and, after concluding our business with the contractor, we went for a stroll around the woods on our property.  I think this was Sadie's first nature walk.  Both Jasper and Sadie seemed right at home.
