Getting a Big Girl Bed

Today was a big day, one Sadie has been looking forward to and talking about for a week: we bought her a big girl bed.
So, Sadie and I went over to Ikea this morning and she tried out a few different beds.

We went down and got a big cart and loaded up our bed and mattress and sheets and we were on our way.  The whole time, Sadie kept reminding me that we were getting her a "big girl bed".  She was really very excited about it.

On our way home we stopped at a food truck in Red Hook to pick up some Columbian food for us and mommy and Sadie demonstrated her fine motor skills.

After all that excitement, and a little lunch, Sadie took a nap.  And after her nap, she helped assemble her new bed.  It was pretty wonderful how engaged she was in helping put it together.

She liked using the tools and did a great job.

When it was finally time to try it out, she was thrilled.

And when bedtime came and she got right into her big girl bed and lay down and stayed lying down even after we went downstairs and left her for the night, mommy and papa were thrilled too.

Sadie stayed busy pretty much all day long and it was exhausting, but it was a lot of fun.

A Day at the Zoo

We went to the Bronx Zoo today with Arash, Momo and Toshiro. It was a big schlep, but in the end it was totally worth it. Sadie saw zebras, lions, unusual birds,  wild pigs, an aardvark, tigers, gorillas (yes, that is a gorilla's foot in the background of one photo) and new baby gorillas (a big deal!), flamingos, an ostrich, other amazing animals and, finally, at long last, real live giraffes.  She won't soon forget her trip to the zoo.
And when it was over and Sadie was asleep in her stroller, we rewarded ourselves with delicious tacos from a taco truck under the train tracks. Da Bronx ain't half bad!

Grandma Visit

Grandma India visited last week for a couple short but lovely days. We took a stroll up to the botanic Gardens on a beautiful day. The lilacs were still blooming and Sadie saw lots of turtles. We also got to go out to restaurants to eat, which is always fun.
The next time we see Grandma, there will probably be a new addition to our family!
