Francesca is 7 Months!

Lazy Sunday

The heat finally broke a bit! This morning we went to the park for our friend Arthur's 7th birthday party.

In the afternoon, Sadie's classmate Sunny from up the block asked if she could come out and play, so we all hung out on the block, old school Brooklyn style. Sunny us pretty good on a skateboard, so our kids had to have a go. Sawyer obviously skinned his knuckles immediately.

Frankie is a natural!

Yesterday in the Park with Children

It was hot as bejabbers here yesterday, so after a rough morning keeping everyone from going nuts, we took an uber over to SplashPad in Prospect Park. Afterwards, we walked all the way home across the park.
It turned into an unexpectedly nice day.

First and Last Days of School

Sadie finished first grade today! She was excited but sad to say goodbye to her teacher. Sawyer's school ended a couple weeks ago and he is now fully in the swing of camp, which seems to be going swimmingly (literally - they swim 3x/week!). Sadie starts camp tomorrow at the same place she went last year. She'll take the bus to the remote forests of Staten Island!

For comparison, here are the before and afters of the school year. They've changed so much!

Adventure Day with Sadie!

After our big day Saturday, we had no plans at all Sunday. All I needed to do was check out one used car.
So, I took Sadie with me to see the used car in the morning down in Coney Island.

On the way to the door, Sadie tried on a hat.

After seeing the car, we walked one block down to Surf Ave. where we got some lunch followed by frozen custard.

It was very hot in the sun so Sadie found a spot in the shade.

Then we walked to the beach to see what was what. Sadie didn't let her lack of swim togs stop her from enjoying the cool water.

Sadie really knows how to enjoy herself. She was a delight. I'll never car shop without her again.

When we got home, Frankie was busy munching some solid food!
She's a little sweetie, this one!

And that was our day!

Sawyer's Big Day!

Yesterday was Sawyer's 4th birthday party. It coincided with our annual block party so, once again, he had a bouncy house and pony rides at his party. This year there was a waterslide too!

In the morning, before the party, Sawyer and I went for a walk/scoot around the neighborhood. As we passed his barbershop, Sawyer said he wanted a haircut. So we went in and got him one.

Doesn't he look big and handsome?

Sadie was so excited about the waterside, she couldn't contain herself.

Sawyer waited in line and climbed to the top of the slide before changing his mind and climbing back down.

Sadie loved it and got back in line again and again.

Eventually, Sadie came back inside to change out of her wet bathing suit. She couldn't wait to get back outside.

Uncle Preston came down for the day! The kids adore their uncle.

Uncle P brought Sawyer a Spiderman "watch" - it was a big hit!

Grandpa Bill sent a treasure chest of great gifts - but Sawyer was most delighted by the birthday card that plays 'We Will Rock You' when you open it. He couldn't get enough of opening and closing the card.

The face painting table was manned by some thoroughly unskilled kids from up the block. But that didn't stop Sadie from lining up. We have no idea what this was supposed to be.

The block was closed to cars, so neighborhood kids were out in the street all day on their bikes, scooters, skateboards and pogo sticks, dodging the ponies and one another.

Sadie enjoyed her annual ride on the big pony.

Sawyer zoomed around on his balance bike.

The birthday party went smoothly. Sawyer, Iris and Jake were just as happy to look at a Star Wars book and giggle as to do any of the street party activities.

These are really really nice kids!

And Frankie was calm and happy all day!

So it was a really great day! And our boy is 4 - HE'S SO BIG!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SAWYER!
