Memorial Day Weekend - Saturday

 Big holiday weekend!

On Saturday morning we drove up to Storm King to meet up with our friend Lou and his daughter Lucie.

Sawyer's favorite thing he saw all day was this coyote. Sawyer named it Petty.

Memorial Day Weekend 2023 - Monday

It was a long and busy Memorial Day Weekend.  On Monday we took the subway and bus to Manhattan Beach (way out past Coney Island and Brighton Beach).  It was very windy and not good weather for a picnic on the beach so we had some lunch at the picnic tables by the concession stands and then we made our way down to the beach where the wind was blowing the sand around so that it stung like pins and needles. (Frankie did NOT like that one bit!)

It was a little too chilly to go in the water, but that didn't stop Sawyer.  Indeed, he was the only one of us who seemed to thoroughly enjoy all that the beach had to offer.

We'll be back at the beach soon, and hopefully it will be warmer and less windy.  But, for a last minute excursion, this was pretty good.

There is a reason we called him 'Smiley Biley' when he was a toddler. Not much has changed.  This kid finds cause for joy. 

The bus ride back to the subway was uneventful.

And, of course, no day of adventure is complete without ice cream!

Rainy Day!

I took Sawyer and Frankie to the movies yesterday. We took raincoats, but no umbrellas. It was drizzling pretty steadily on the way to the movie theater, but it was raining cats and dogs and little fishes on the walk home. And neither kid minded at all. Indeed, they were jolly spirits the whole way home. See for yourself!
