More from last weekend: Keeping Cool!

The kids seem to like their new pool, and, with the recent temperatures, it is likely to see a lot of action this summer. 

Sawyer Turns Two!!

Sawyer turned two yesterday.  We had his birthday party a couple days early on Saturday which also happened to be the day of our block party.  The block party events were scheduled to start around noon and the birthday party was scheduled for 3:30pm.

We worried that the block party might not happen when it started to pour around 11am.  It rained all morning, but then the rain turned to a light drizzle around 1:30, leaving enough time for the all the kids on the block to go outside and have pony rides.

Sadie got FIVE pony rides.  She rode the big horse and the little one and she was confident and happy on both, running to get back in line as soon as she dismounted after each ride. 

Of course, our neighbor Natalia was there too.

We kept the birthday party small, inviting only a few of our favorite couples.

I don't think it dawned on Sawyer that he was the reason for the occasion until he noticed everyone looking at him and singing.  He didn't seem to mind at all and couldn't wait to get his hands on the cake. 

Grandma India came down for the party too.

Sawyer really liked his cake.

After cake, Sawyer got up on stage and sang "Let it Go" (the chorus at least).

Sadie and her friend Adin were adorable.  They held hands and hugged while waiting in line for the bouncy house.  Watching her have her own conversations with other kids, she seems like such a big girl.

Sawyer took a liking to Jane from up the block.  Too bad she and her folks and three siblings are moving back to Ohio next month.  

If we haven't mentioned it previously, Sawyer LOVES playing soccer.  He runs with the ball and kicks it like a champ.  He does use his hands a bit much though.

After our party, everyone went back outside and enjoyed the block party until dusk.

Our little boy is such a big boy!!!  He's an angel.

And he really loves his mommy.

It was a great day!!

Some Recent Goings On

Yesterday I took Sadie with me to Ikea on an errand. She was a splendid companion and was well rewarded (with frozen yogurt).

Today, in a crazy coincidence, both V and I had dentist appointments at the same time in the same office in lower Manhattan. So, I moved my appointment forward an hour and when I was finished V showed up and handed off Sawyer so she could get her teeth cleaned in peace. Since we were only a block from Bowling Green, I took Sawyer to the National Museum of the American Indian (free admission!).  Neither of us had ever been there before. It was a very nice way to spend an hour. Sawyer enjoyed watching films of traditional native American dance. 

And that's what's been going on. 

An Unexpected Trip to the Waterpark

V had an appointment near my work this afternoon so she dropped the kids off with me and we went to see what it is the leisurely peoples of Tribeca do on a Friday afternoon. 

Only 6 blocks due West of my office, there are a couple recreational piers on the Hudson. One of them, Pier 25, has a great playground with a big waterpark. 

The kids soaked their clothes and played with and climbed on everything and had a great time. I hope they'll come visit me often this Summer.
