Swing Kid

Sadie loves to swing and check out the other babies! It is hot out here but she is a good sport.
That's all!

Indoor Recess

It's hot here (and I'm tired- Sadie woke up at 5:20 this morning. Not cool), so we've been hiding inside for most of the last few days. Here are some pictures of Sadie getting all her sillies out before her afternoon nap. By the way, her latest thing is walking sideways while holding onto railings or furniture, cat-burglar-style. Apparently this is called "cruising", but today Sadie made almost around the whole apartment by sliding along one piece of furniture to the next. Walking, here we come.

More Drumming

Little Drummer Girl

Sadie's percussion training is paying off. We got her a little interactive drum toy, and she knows exactly what to do with it. It's a good height for drumming practice, too!

Miscellaneous Sadie

It has been a busy week with Papa gone, but we did manage to fit in done playtime. Lena invited us over a couple nights ago for playing and wine for babies and mommies, respectively. Sadie and Gabriel get along very well.
Also Sadie lying down in imitation of the doggie, and also Sadie laughing maniacally in her crib while wearing her Westover t-shirt that the alumni office sent her (recruiting early).
Grandma India is on her way to our house as I write so that I can dash to a late rehearsal. We can't wait to see Papa!

Morning Person

Grandma India went home Monday but will come back on Friday to help again. We are on our own for a few days.

As usual, Sadie woke up full of beans.

We ran into our friend Lena with her son Gabriel this morning in the playground, and Lena commented how different the two babies' personalities are. Apparently Gabriel, who isn't crawling yet, is rather cautious, while Sadie is a "daredevil" who loves to explore. It's funny that I assume all babies are sort of the same about things like that. Here she is getting into trouble.

Sadie's Got Moves

This is a truncated version of the video Grandma India took while I was away yesterday. Sadie is processing a lot she learned in music class. I love the part where she sort of gets up and sits back down facing the other way - feels like a break dance move.
Grandma just started using the iPhone video camera, so please forgive the quality.

11 Months!!!

Sadie has been a very busy girl. Grandma India is visiting while Papa is in California.

Yesterday we both took her to the last music class of the session. I was struck by how much she had picked up in the lady several weeks; she was totally engaged and a pro with all the shakers and drums. She is also a dancing fool. I will post some video layer. Grandma got some good footage. I think music class has really done its job -- she starts grooving whenever music comes on now.

We are noticing that she is really starting to mimic behaviors really clearly. When we all lifted our hands or clap, she would copy. She also lies down flat on the floor like the dog, and yesterday when Grandma was putting on hand lotion, Sadie started rubbing her hands together.

We had better start watching what we do and say in front of her. Sadie sees all!

Sadie Loves her Doggie

We really have a patient dog.

This is what a kiss from Sadie looks like, by the way. It's pretty special when she blesses you with one.

Sunday in the Park with Sadie

It was a gorgeous day here. Sadie has spent a good deal of time in her stroller the past couple days, so we thought we'd let her roam free for a little while.

She has been standing unassisted for a few seconds at a time, and for longer stretches each day. She will be walking very soon, we think.

More happy weekend

Bigger every day

Sadie is standing on her own now- not for long stretches, but she pulls herself up on something and then lets go and stands there for a long moment balancing on her own two feet. It is pretty exciting.
We all had a lovely weekend. Despite a forecast calling for rain all weekend, it was sunny and beautiful and we spent almost the entire weekend outdoors walking around Brooklyn. Actually Sadie slept through a lot of it but she didn't miss the important stuff. Anyway, It was great. Who needs Paris?!

European Vacation Wrap-up

I finally got around to downloading photos from the memory cards from our good cameras and here is what we found. (click any pic to enlarge)

That's an awful big doggie!

I really enjoyed wearing my little girl all over Paris.  I need to wear her more in NYC.

Don't worry - she's plenty far from the edge.

Sadie didn't take to the beret right away.

But then she sort of got it.

plop!

Our place in Amsterdam was pretty cool.
