We landed in CA on Sunday afternoon and have finally adjusted to the time change. Sadie did as well as could be expected on the flight (we switched to a row of 3 with a free seat. We didn't bring our carseat onboard, but she still got to sprawl out and nap between us), but it was still a really long day.

She is happy to run around in the lovely weather (sorry, East Coast!) and visit with family. More pics of Sadie with her cousins to follow.

She also figured out how to carry her ball around by dropping it down the front of her onesie. Ridiculous.

And I'm going to include a couple NY pics from before we left. I'm pretty sure she is going to grow a foot by the time we leave, so these are the Before shots.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Princess mug shots

Although we don't want to introduce or perpetuate any sort of princess narrative in our girl's life, it would be a real shame to waste a perfectly good tiara.

Sadie Miscellany, November Edition

I don't think the California folks know what they are in for next week when we visit hit Thanksgiving. Sadie has changed so much since this summer.

Here is a list of words she says, as best I can make out:

Hi!
Dye! (bye!)
Yeah
Puppydog
Papa
Uh oh (when anyone drops anything)
Up
Appa (apple)
Cheese
Keys
Shoes
Baba (baby)
Dida (diaper... That one lasted a couple days but disappeared)
Ow (owl, or "owww" the sound a wolf makes)
Dissyeu (bless you, following a sneeze)
Dittyeu (thank you, sometimes following a gift of food or milk)
Brrm (sound of cars or airplanes)
Caca (the sound a duck makes)
Baba (ditto chicken)

She's pretty amazing!!! Watching her figure out language is the absolute best.

Visit from Grandpa

My dad and Connie came down for a quick visit last week. Dad brought Preston's old puppy Spot, so Sadie was pretty happy with her Grandpa. We all read some stories, ate some bagels, and had a wonderful little visit.

Now stand still and pose!!!

It is a difficult balance trying to enjoy the funny things Sadie does and trying to capture photos of them.  The moment you pull out a camera, she is more interested in it than in whatever she was doing that you wanted a picture of.  So, usually, it is better to just enjoy the show.  But here are a few pix I managed to capture over the past week - sorry if they are blurry.

Our kid would fit right in down on Bedford & N. 6th.

Our Girl is Growing So Fast!!

Our girl is growing so fast, I just don't know what to do.  Also, she is super duper smart.
Here she is this morning - you can see how big and smart she is!

Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween! We had our first Oark Slope Halloween last night, and it's way better than going into Manhattan with bajillions of people.
A family from Sadie's birth month group hosted a party in the neighborhood. It was fun to see all the babies running around in costume (the hats and masks were pretty much ripped off immediately).
Then we intercepted the Park Slope halloween parade. We realized we had never actually watched it even though it goes right by our house. Everything was cancelled last year because of the hurricane. I thought the parade was just all the kids walking down the street in their costumes, but turns out there are big floats and displays. There was a pirate ship and a big dinosaur skeleton puppet.
Sadie sat on her papa's shoulders and clapped and laughed at all the goings on. We followed the parade home and said hi to all the neighbors who were our watching. Sadie was pretty exhausted, but she seemed to get that it was a special night.
