Market Morning in Santa Cruz

We were all jet laggy and woke up early this morning. Sadie and I got dressed and Brindon came by around 7 and we headed out to the flea market.  Sadie loved the flea and jumped right in. She even picked up a new pair of stylish sunglasses.
After the flea, we went to get some breakfast at the farmers' market, but it turned out Sadie was pretty zonked and she passed out while I was holding her in line to order at a food truck. Brindon helped tote the sleepy girl around and it all went very nicely.
Maybe we'll do it all again next Sunday!

Halloweeeen!

This was the first Halloween where we really did the whole Park Slope experience, and it was pretty great. In case you cannot tell, Sadie went as Oscar the Grouch. Her costume was awesome if I do say so. Grandma India was a flamenco dancer, and Papa and Mommy took turns with the horse costume. 

We went to Sadie's classmate Rose's house for a party, where Sawyer found a fellow skeleton. On the way home we weaved around the neighborhood trick-or-treating at houses and stores. Something clicked for Sadie this year, and she started getting in to the acquisitive spirit of the evening. She started saying "let's go to MORE houses and get MORE candy from people!" The main avenues were packed, and people loved Sadie's costume and shouted "Hey, Oscar!" 

When we got home we were all pretty exhausted, so Sadie got into her jammies and went outside to watch the big Park Slope Halloween parade, which turns right down our street. There were some pretty elaborate costumes and puppets. It was quite exciting and made me love where we live.

Big Fall Weekends

I promise you people will get your Halloween pictures shortly. And they are worth it.
We've had some big weekends lately, and last weekend was action-packed. Saturday our friends Scott, Esther, and daughter Vera rented a van and drove us up to Queens Farm Museum, a working farm that goes nuts this time of year with fall-related activities. Sadie went on a pony ride, saw some more goats and bunnies and pigs and such, drank hot chocolate, and ate donuts. It is so fun to get together with families with bigger kids now that Sadie can really hang and run around like a 5-year-old.

Sunday was the Big Apple Circus! They set up a tent in Lincoln Center Plaza. Jonathan's firm was giving out tickets to employees with young kids, so the whole family and Grandma Vicki got to go. There were clowns, acrobats, puppies and horses doing tricks. Sadie was engaged from beginning to end. Sawyer did well too!

Oh, and there were more pony rides.
