Kayaking on Keoka

 In anticipation of a long and splendid Summer in Maine, I got us kayaks last week. And this morning we took them out for a test paddle on Keoka Lake, just a mile down the road. So far, so good. 

We even saw our old friends the loons!

The hardest part was getting the kayaks on and off the car. And even that wasn't so hard. 

Anyway, we stayed out in the lake for a little over an hour. It was a successful first outing

Pemaquid State Beach is A-Okay!

There are certain to be at least a couple more posts to document this past weekend's activities, but let's start with these photos from yesterday, Sunday, May 16, 2021.

We drove down to the charming town of Damariscotta yesterday to try another "Top 20 Burger" in Maine at King Eider's Pub (YUM!).

Afterwards, we took a stroll up and down the main street then went off in search of a nice beach.  And boy did we find a winner: Pemaquid State Beach has fine white sand, plenty of parking, lovely calm water and was nearly empty despite the low 70's weather and gentle breezes.

We all had a great time!  

AND, I think this might have been Frankie's first time ever getting to just run and play on a beach without someone constantly holding her hand and pulling her back from the water.  She was in heaven.

These 3 play sooooo well together on a beach.  We need to do this more often.

Frankie spent a good deal of time just running back and forth from the water's edge to... wherever.

And this guy is getting so big!  He's amazing and quite noisy.

 What a fun day!!!  We're keeping a list of all the places we want to visit in Maine.  It's a wonderful way to spend a Spring or Summer day!

 I found Frankie hiding in a blossoming bush this morning while her brother read to her.
