More crawling

I didn't realize the video yesterday cut off the crawling part at the beginning. Here is more. I just love the graceful little way she sits herself back up when she gets where she's going.

In other news, I have just started using the free childcare at the YMCA I use, and Jonathan ordered us a running stroller. The sudden Spring-like weather has me very excited to get exercising again and spend lots more time outdoors with Sadie.

Aaand She's Off!

All of Sadie's hard work paid off today: she crawled! She has been burning the 4:45am oil the past few days just to practice her moves. Here is the culmination of her efforts.

In other news, the party is over for mommy. Can't stay to chat -- I have to go cover all the sockets!

Something New!

We took Sadie to the playground down the street for the first time today.  It took a couple minutes for her to catch on to the swing, but then she seemed to like it.

Watch out - this video might make you sea sick!

Peekaboo

Here is a video of half a game of silent peekaboo. Grandma was sneaking around behind me to distract Sadie, and this is the reaction shot. Nothing really happens, but I find it captivating.

Grandma's Visit and Silly Faces

Grandma India was here for a few days, which was great. Somehow we failed to get any pictures of them together, but I did get some of Sadie's new tricks.

Maybe "tricks" is a strong word. She makes "squishy face" and then leans over in her bumbo in a very funny way. It's pretty silly.

I'm glad she got lots if playtime on the floor with grandma, and we all agree she is days away from crawling for real.

8 Months!

Sorry for the false post, everyone! That's what happens when you try to type with a baby on your lap.

Sadie had her 8-monthday on the 14th and she is getting bigger every day. She has been trying to crawl; she can scoot backwards on her hands and knees, but going forward is still a challenge. Yesterday she started popping up into a downward-dog or plank pose for a second at a time. It is so fun to watch her try new skills.

Grandma India is in town this week, so we will post on that soon!

Buddies

I left Sadie with her babysitter Ruth today for a few hours to do some errands. Here are the pictures Ruth just sent me of Sadie and her friend Caleb, who is the charge of Ruth's sister Raquel.

So many chairs!!!

We had a busy day on Saturday with a trip to the ABC Home outlet up in the Bronx and then a visit to Costco and Sadie managed it all with very little fussing.  She was our official chair tester at ABC.

Variations

By the way, these babies are all roughly the same age. Gabriel is much bigger, and Calvin is already crawling and standing! I'm glad Sadie is average size and just sitting up.

Budding Schroeder

Sadie and I ended up at our friend Lena's house with another mom and baby. It was nice to sprawl out in a playroom after trudging around in the slush.

Best of all, Lena's son Gabriel has a piano that he let the other babies jam on. Here is the original studio recording of the trio's first collaboration. That is Sadie on lead vocals.

Momming ain't easy!

V went to the second day of a two day workshop today and so, for the first time in 7 1/2 months, I had Sadie for a full day. I learned a few things but two stand out:
1 - Moms are amazing! (especially Sadie's); and
2 - Bath time is a pretty great reward for some of the less fun stuff.
