Some Recent Sadie Splendor!

This first pic is from this morning.  Sadie is really enjoying having her own chair and eating her own real foods (note the toast point she is casually clutching like a cigar), but we need to teach her to keep her feet off the table.

And V took the following pic yesterday while Sadie was sleeping in the carrier V was wearing.  This is my new favorite.

And these pics are from recent days - you might recognize some of them as papa's B-roll from shoots previously documented on this blog.

Spring has definitely sprung.

For the avoidance of doubt, my wife is the most beautiful girl in the world.

And here is our little potato crawling around naked.  Moments later I asked Victoria, "what is this puddle?!"

Botanic Gardens

Sunday was a glorious day here -- sunny but a little brisk. We took Sadie to play at the home of Wendy and Justin, a couple in the neighborhood with a baby the same age as Sadie. They have a lovely back yard with Magnolia trees in bloom, so they were hosting a casual brunch for a handful of families with summer babies.
Lena and Matthew were there with Gabriel, and after brunch we all went to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens to meet two of their friends and to check out the cherry blossoms.

I just can't resist posting all of these pictures even though they are similar. I think they are so precious. And Sadie's various expressions must be documented! She certainly likes being outdoors.

Turtles!

Jonathan and Lena, with Gabriel finally asleep in the Ergo.

In other news, Sadie had her 9 month checkup yesterday. My suspicions were confirmed: Sadie is perfect. She is almost 18 pounds and average length, and right on track for her age. She had to get a couple shots, which is always sad, but she recovered fairly quickly. The doctor gave me the green light to go nuts with pretty much any food (except honey for some reason involving bacteria I think), so now we are moving beyond purees into small chunks of food that she can hold. Since the appointment she has had cheerios, toast and scrambled eggs. Some of it even made it into her mouth (although the dog certainly looked pleased after she finished dinner, so I suspect he got a few samples as well)!

Speaking of enjoying the outdoors, I think we are going to go for a jog in the new running stroller. Enjoy!

9 Months!

Sadie has now been out in the world for as long as she was in Mommy's belly. I can't believe it.

These pictures are getting harder and harder to take! Sadie is quite a wiggle worm.

Sadie Gets Flop Bot

Sadie learned a new trick. Perhaps "trick" isn't the right word, but it's a funny thing she does over and over all of a sudden. Perhaps she learned it at music class that day (which she just started -- that gets its own post) during the song where we pretend to ride horses and then fall over on one side and then the other because we are sooo tired. In any case, it cracks me up.

Good Golly, Miss Sadie!

V and I both commented on the similarities between Sadie's playing posture and that of two other piano greats.  Though not suitable role models, we hope she might still ascend to one of their thrones someday.

Piano Girl

Sadie in the Sunshine

It is full-blown Spring here, so we are finally able to play outdoors. Yesterday our friend Melinda came over and we took Sadie and Jasper for a walk and picnic in Prospect Park. Today Sadie and I are sitting on the big AstroTurf lawn behind the historic Old Stone House near our house. I have always seen lots of kids hanging out there but never find it. It is a great way to let newly mobile little ones run around without peril. I am actually still here, waiting to see if other members of my moms' e-mail group come and join me.
Yesterday I was eating an apple with Sadie on my lap, and at some point I heard a munching sound and realized Sadie was helping herself. Her top two teeth are definitely growing in, and I think the cool apple soothes her gums. Here she is, giving it a go all by herself. At this rate, I should be able to give her non-puréed finger foods.
And another mom just showed up, so I am going to play with her! More soon...

Sadie has something to say to you!!

As documentarians we are always grateful when we happen to have the camera turned on in the right place at the right time.
