Months Ago...

Months ago, the Bielbys came over and out looked strangely liked it did yesterday. Since we never posted the photos before, here they are.

A Father's Day Adventure

It's been 10 years since I've gone windsurfing. I've been wanting to try doing it on the nearby lakes, but I didn't have the kit. So on Father's Day we drove down to Androscoggin Lake in Leeds, ME to a place owned by the guy who runs the only windsurfing equipment store in Maine. His name is Ian.

On the way down, we stopped for burgers at Fast Eddie's in Winthrop. Yum!

Ian has a nice stretch of private beach and lots of rental equipment and training stuff. He let me take a board out for a couple hours and occasionally passed by in a motorboat and gave me pointers. What fun! I'm gonna need to gear up for this so I can go on Keoka.

While I was surfing around, the kids played on the beach.

Afterwards, Ian let Sadie then Sawyer get on his windsurfing training simulator. Apparently, he teaches kids too. I'd love it if the kids would join me in this sport.

Anyway, I was sore afterwards in muscles I'm not used to taxing.  But it was great.

A Visit to the Museum

A couple weeks ago (months actually since we took so long to post this) on a Sunday we drove down to Portland in search of a burger and something to entertain us. We found both.

The burger was at The Great Lost Bear and afterwards we surprised the kids with a visit to the International Cryptozoology Museum. Pretty crazy! Sadie and Sawyer were thrilled. Frankie didn't know what to make of it.

When Mommy Goes Away...

Mommy is in Boston for a couple days seeing her friend Aly so I'm all alone with the kids. And guess what? Everything didn't fall apart the minute mommy left.

In fact, we made it through the better part of a day without incident.

Mommy departed around 9 a.m. yesterday and as soon as she was out the door I called a family meeting. Frankie insisted we wait to call roll until she put her shoes on. It's a good thing we waited.

After the meeting, the kits watched some more cartoons. Then we played for a while. Then we went to McDonald's for lunch.

And at 3 o'clock, the Bielby's came over (all except Eric, who is also out of town).
It was raining so the kids tore the house apart and emptied every toy and game onto the floor.

Then, when the sun finally peeked through, we all ran out to the brook. The kids all jumped right in and got soaked - which was just fine.

And since they were wet anyway, they all went for a hot tub after the brook.

And then we went back inside and made pizzas! (Which they seemed to enjoy.)

And after pizza, it was movie time.

Sooooo, that was a pretty full day. I'm still tired. But it was fun.
