AstroSadie!

I'm finally finding time to post some photos from the day Sadie and I spent exploring Space Center Houston and NASA's Rocket Park.

Here is our daring astronaut in a space capsule during takeoff.
And here is our cadet she is on the Moon, or Mars... or somewhere out in space.
Aboard the Space Shuttle contemplating a spaceship potty.
Not so much.
In the cargo bay of the Space Shuttle.
Practicing gently setting the Space Shuttle atop it's 747 transport.
Much needed lunch in the cafe.  HOT DOG!
Beside a gigantic Saturn Rocket!!
Standing in front of the first stage rocket engines.
Relaxing between the second and third stages of the rocket.
All that enormous rocketship for a little tiny capsule!

TAH DAH!!

I don't know where she got this pose, but it is gangsta!
Look at my happy kid!
We had a great time at the rocket museum.
Dressed for dinner after a day of rocketships and space exploration.
Ready for bed after, perhaps, the longest day EVER!!!  Such a great day together!!!

Away to Houston!

Sadie and I headed down to Houston, TX yesterday for cousin Alex's bar mitzvah tomorrow. So today we had a free day before all the celebrations and we made the most of it.
We started the day of by sneaking out early while Grandma Vicki was still asleep and headed off to visit Space Center Houston at the Johnson Space Center (i.e., NASA).  But first we had to stop for breakfast.
I asked Sadie what she wanted for breakfast and when she said, "Waffles," it was like angels had sung. Here we are in Texas where one thing is possible that is not in New York. I knew the time had come to introduce her to Waffle House!
If you come away from this post thinking that Sadie (and maybe even I) enjoyed our visit to Waffle House more than the Texas Smithsonian Air and Space Museum outpost, you might be correct.
Oh, and I brought the selfish stick from my Halloween costume and that was a hit as well - though not allowed at the museum.

Sadie-isms

Sadie and her papa are on a special trip to Texas to visit her cousins. There will be more on that soon, but I am taking advantage of the quiet house to go through some old papers. I just found something Sadie said that I wrote down probably nine months ago. I'm posting it so I can throw away the piece of paper and because it's pretty good stuff. I'm guessing at the spellings.

Archetation: (n) someone who doesn't like castles and doesn't want to sleep in them anymore.

Bugga: (n) It's like a house but it's square. It's almost like an alligator, but it's a rectangle.

Eccasacean: (n) something that is burning just like fire in a fireplace.

Recipe for Pretend Real Ice Cream:

First we peel an orange and squeeze it in
Then we put the peel in
Then we put chocolate chips in
Then we put a little bit of milk in
We put some hot sauce in and some hamburger
And then a tiny bit more hamburger in
Then we mix it

Little Buddies

Little by little, these kids have become big enough to play together. It's not perfect, and Sadie is still working on being patient with her brother when he ruins her block creations, and he is trying to keep up with her, but it's hard to deny that they like each other.

Papa made this hat!

He doesn't seem to mind this kind of treatment most of the time.

Sawyer instigated this embrace, believe it or not.

We're lucky to have such happy kids.
